OUR ACTIONS

AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS

All the Cadyst Group’s CSR actions are directly or indirectly linked to the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Because of our activities and our deployment theater, our CSR actions from 2021 to 2023 are aligned with 13 SDGs:
1- NO POVERTY

As part of the “Mamies Beignets” program, financial and material support has been provided to over 100 women who are producers and sellers of flour fritters, enabling them to resume their activities, which have been halted since 2022 due to widespread inflation in Cameroon.

2- ZERO HUNGER

  • Donations of pasta, flour, and cookies to orphanages :
    • Canaan Orphanage – Bojongo, Littoral Region
    • ASAF Orphanage – Bonabéri, Littoral Region
    • Miséricorde Divine Orphanage – Village Entrée Billes, Littoral Region
    • One Afrad Orphanage – Shell Newbell, Littoral Region
    • Refuge Meinrad Hebga Orphanage – Bassa PK11, Littoral Region
    • Å’uvre des Sans Voix Orphanage – Bassa PK9, Littoral Region
    • Lovely Kids Orphanage – Ndogpassi, Littoral Region
  • Donations of pasta and flour to 28 families of deceased Group employees
3- GOOD HEALTH AND WELL-BEING

  • As part of the “Cadyst Group Staff in Good Health” program, annual screening campaigns are organized to screen for and, if necessary, treat several diseases. These include malaria, hypertension, intestinal parasites, HIV/AIDS, as well as breast, prostate, and cervical cancer.
  • Health insurance for all employees of the group.
  • Contribution to the employee mutual fund which provides supplementary health coverage and assists employees during family events such as births and deaths.
  • Ceremony for awarding honorary work medals to employees of the group.
  • Annual football tournaments and board game competitions.
  • Weekly fitness programs for each site of the group.
  • Donation of ambulances to the hospital in Dschang, Western Region.
  • Donations of masks, hand sanitizer gel, soap, and barrels to hospital facilities:
    • Saint Albert Le Grand Hospital – Bonabéri, Littoral Region
    • CEBEC Hospital – Bonabéri, Littoral Region
    • Ad Lucem Hospital – Bonabéri, Littoral Region
    • Saint Paul Hospital – Nylon, Littoral Region
  • Donations of soap to 7 orphanages and 28 families of deceased employees of the group
4- QUALITY EDUCATION

  • Reconstruction of classrooms at Malam Petel public school, Far North Region.
  • Scholarships covering all secondary and university studies, awarded to the top 5 graduates of the Primary School Leaving Certificate (CEP) exam at Malam Petel Public School, Far North region.
  • Donation of 16 blackboards, 500 bench tables and 7,811 books and school supplies to the public schools of Malam Petel and Balaza Lawan, Far North Region.
  • Payment of salary arrears to part-time teachers at Malam Petel public school, Far North region.
5- GENDER EQUALITY

  • Of the Cadyst Group’s 5 corporate officers, 2 are women – having replaced men in these positions.
  • Around 25% of Cadyst Group employees are women.
  • Both the Code of Conduct and the Recruitment Policy emphasize gender equality in terms of rights and opportunities offered to Cadyst Group employees.
6- CLEAN WATER AND SANITATION

  • Donation of drinking water to residents of the Panzani plant – Bassa, Littoral Region.
  • Contribution to the drinking water supply for the barracks adjacent to the Panzani plant – Bassa, Littoral region.
  • Permanent hygiene control program for decent toilets and adequate wastewater treatment at all Cadyst Group sites.
  • Training our customers in good hygiene practices in the food distribution chain.
7- AFFORDABLE AND CLEAN ENERGY

  • The “Energy Efficiency” program at Cadyst Group has resulted in significant savings in energy consumption, achieved through several initiatives:
    • Replacement of energy-intensive motors
    • Rationalizing the supply of electricity to plants
    • Integration of solar energy as part of the group’s energy sources
    • Adoption of low-energy consumption solutions
    • Awareness campaigns promoting responsible electricity consumption in offices to eliminate waste
    • Rationalization of delivery truck rotations
    • Gas-fired boilers for hot water production.
    • Use of electric or gas-powered forklift trucks.
    8- DECENT WORK AND ECONOMIC GROWTH

    • Contribution to taxes and customs: CFAF 5.7 billion (year 2023)
    • Contribution to the local economy via domestic purchases of FCFA 20 billion (year 2023)
    • Average workforce of 1,300 (year 2023)
    • “Young Graduates” program that provided training for over 25 young individuals for 1 year within Cadyst Group entities.
    • “Cadyst Group Talents Training” program, which has enabled 15 young managers to join the group of “Leaders of the Future”.
    9- INDUSTRY, INNOVATION AND INFRASTRUCTURE

    • Validation of bread flour formulas resulting from the blending of wheat flour and local flours (i.e. maize, manioc).
    • Creation of new cookie recipes to replace imported ingredients with locally-produced equivalents.
    11- SUSTAINABLE CITIES AND COMMUNITIES

    • Courtesy visits and donations to the traditional chiefdoms in :
      • Bonendale, Littoral Region
      • Gwelle, Littoral Region
      • Missaka, Southwest Region
    • Ongoing dialogue platform with the chiefdom of Ndogsimbi, the township where Panzani’s factory and warehouses are located.
    • Phytosanitary treatment against insects, rodents, and reptiles at Bonabéri near the La Pasta plant.
    • Clearing of drainage channels to prevent flooding:
      • Bonabéri Grand Hangar, Littoral Region
      • Bonabéri Nguele, Littoral Region
    12- RESPONSIBLE CONSUMPTION AND PRODUCTION

    • Substitution of imports by purchases from local producers:
      • Packaging films
      • Packaging bags
    • ANOR certificates for food quality and safety
    • Market approvals from the Ministry of Health
    • Global Quality Plan adopted by the group to provide stakeholders with assurance that products comply with current standards and regulations.
    13- CLIMATE ACTION

    • Participation in the project of the ministry of the environment/Littoral regional delegation, for the reforestation of the city of Douala, notably by providing seedlings.
    • Implementation of initiatives to reduce plastic waste and promote recycling within the group.
    • Implementation of the environmental and social management plan, submitted to the ministry of the environment.
    • Implementation of the waste management plan, submitted to the ministry of the environment.
    • Organization of an annual awareness-raising day for Cadyst Group employees on environmental issues such as sustainable development, diversity, rational water management and global warming.
    • Organization of an annual plastic waste collection day in the city of Douala.
    16- PEACE, JUSTICE AND STRONG INSTITUTIONS

    • Engagement of Cadyst Group through its code of conduct to adhere to laws and ethical values, and to fight discrimination, corruption, and money laundering.
    • Contribution to the initiative of the union of milling industries of Cameroon (GIMC) to assist refugees from the Central African war settled on Cameroonian territory.
