Douala, August 6, 2025
PRESS RELEASE
At the end of a long regulatory process, the Cadyst Group, a major agro-industrial and food player in the flour, biscuit and pasta sectors, is pleased to announce the final conclusion of the deed of purchase of SGMC and SGMP, subsidiaries of the Somdia Group.
On August 6, 2025, the boards of directors of SGMC and SGMP thus recorded the change of shareholding and the appointment of the new governance with Mr. Célestin TAWAMBA as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the 2 companies with around him new directors including Mrs. Elizabeth GOUATER, currently Director and Chief Executive Officer of Cadyst Group.
With this acquisition, the Cadyst Group consolidates its leading position in Cameroon and expands the scope of its activities in the Republic of Congo, paving the way for new developments as a major pan-African player working for the food sovereignty of the countries it serves.
These acquisitions also offer the Cadyst group new growth prospects by significantly integrating its upstream (feed mill, animal feed, poultry) and downstream (finished agri-food products) activities in both Cameroon and the Republic of Congo.
With 7 industrial sites, 1500 employees and with their respective DNA, the teams of the Cadyst Group and SGMC and SGMP are now working hard to set up synergies and exchanges of expertise to guarantee even more competitiveness, availability and quality of the products resulting from their production and marketed on the market of the CEMAC zone.
For Célestin Tawamba, President of CADYST Group:
“It is with great joy and deep emotion that we welcome SGMC and SGMP to Cadyst. August 6, 2025 marks much more than an acquisition: it is the starting point of a new chapter, bringing new opportunities for our teams, our partners and our markets. Beyond the assets and figures, it is women and men who join our adventure with their experience, their culture and their know-how. Together, we will join forces to write a page of performance, innovation and responsibility, in the service of Africa and its agro-industrial destiny.”
